What does a Canine Esthetician mean for your dog?
I have come to learn just HOW crucial it is for our pets to have a properly hydrated coat - this coming from a women who has absolutely no proper skin care routine for herself. Something clicked when I heard Cliff Faver DVM give a lecture on the fundamental science of canine skin and how much of what he said hit close to home for my Sweet Sophia... She's had a life long battle with hives, crust, lumps, blackheads, incessant itching, hot spots and prescribed step therapy medications that just WEREN'T working. Just like anybody else, I would try anything to offer relief to my best pal. Not only that, I realized right away if I could provide Sophia with relief - I could help other dogs too.
Immediately, I enrolled into Dr. Faver's school before I left his seminar last year. I needed to know more about what this miracle man in blue slacks merely touched base on and that drive hasn’t depleted one bit today.
Here is a short summary of what I've learned ~ Within a healthy environment of the body's largest organ; THE SKIN, there are a number of naturally occurring and essential balanced microorganisms... The skin is responsible for storing nutrients, regulating temperature, providing protection for the organs, the list goes on. It's important for your dog's Groomer to educated in taking proper care. When there is an imbalance, either caused by health issues, environmental toxins (allergens) or lack of adequate grooming a variety of secondary reactions can be caused. In turn, the pet may become itchy and irritated. The scratching further causes issues due to swelling of the skin potentially causing clogged pores, sores, crusts, lumps, bumps.
With proper technique and product, I am able to bridge the gap and eliminate symptoms - The goal is to provide a protective barrier, hydrate, repair and restore homeostasis!
That is what I was able to accomplish for Sophia under the mentorship of Dr. Faver!
